BMSSA 2015-2016 Elections and Study Session

Hope you are all doing well amidst this stressful time!
 
As the the semester begins to wind down, BMSSA will be holding it final two events. 
 
1. BMSSA Elections
 
The nominations for the 2015-2016 BMSSA executive council are in! Please come out, exercise your right to vote and support your fellow candidates! Eligibility  to vote is defined by anyone taking a BMS course or is enrolled in the major/minor program. 
 
In-person voting will take place on:
Monday, Mar. 30
11am-12:30pm

Wednesday, Apr. 1

Can’t make it on either dates? Not to worry! Please email bookandmedia@utoronto.ca to schedule an office hour with a BMS executive anytime from Monday to Wednesday.

Anyone who is a full-time, undergraduate Arts & Science student enrolled in BMS (either as a major or minor) or taking any BMS course may vote and run in the election.

-Full name as you wish it to appear on the ballot

-Position of interest

-Indication of eligibility (program or course)

-A brief statement of intent (which will also appear on the ballot) of no more than 300 words telling us a bit about yourself, why you would like to serve on the BMSSA and any relevant qualifications for your position

March BMSSA Events

Happy March!
 
The BMSSA has some exciting, upcoming events for you!
 
1. Introducing Mues-Days
For the month of March, the BMSSA is introducing its pilot project, Mues-days! Essentially, the association will be organizing museum outings, featuring special exhibits, FREE of charge. The events will serve as an opportunity to meet and mingle with your BMS students and execs and discuss its relation to topics examined in class.
 
The first event will take place on Wednesday, March 4th, 2015 from 6-8pm at the AGO featuring the Art Spiegelman’s CO-MIX: A Retrospective exhibit. (Meeting location: inside the main entrance)
 
The second Mues-day will take place on Tuesday, March 10th, 2015 from 3-5pm at the ROM featuring the Douglas Coupland: everywhere is anywhere is anything is everything exhibit. (Meeting location: inside the main entrance)
 
If interested, please sign-up on the sign-up sheet posted on the BMSSA office door, room 229 in the Kelly Library; through the BMSSA facebook events page (“The Book and Media Studies Student Association”); or send an email to bookandmedia@utoronto.ca. 2. Bookbinding Workshop with the Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild
Interested in book arts or the process of bookbinding? A bookbinder from the Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild will be leading a hands-on, bookbinding workshop. You can bind your own book and take it home to use! Stay tuned for the date and location!
 
3. Career Panel
Don’t know what you can do with your BMS degree? A career panel featuring BMS and St.Michael’s College alumni from various industries related to BMS will share their background experience. Come out and connect with the panelists and learn the different opportunities to get the most out of your BMS degree. Date and location TBA (likely towards the end of March)
